FAQ
よくあるご質問
What is the GABA content and effect of Sicilian Rouge High GABA?
The effect of consuming Sicilian Rouge High GABA itself is currently under investigation. |
What is the difference between the Sicilian Rouge HIGH GABA Tomato and the ordinary Gaba tomatoes currently available on the market?Ordinary GABA Tomatoes sold now, have increased the GABA content by the cultivation method, applying water stress, which is labor-intensive and its yield is lower. By taking a different approach to mutation using genome editing technology and activating GABA synthase, we have succeeded in producing HIGH GABA tomatoes without stressing plants and sacrificing yield, which has much higher GABA content than the original variety and is said to help suppressing high blood pressure if you would eat only one or two servings a day. |
Is Sicilian Rouge High GABA safe? Does it have any impact on the environment?
The crops that we eat and grow today have been developed from wild plants by selecting and crossbreeding with genetic changes (mutations). The genome editing technology that we are using is one of these breeding technologies, and can introduce genetic changes into the target sequence. As per Japanese regulation, organisms created using genome editing technology that do not contain foreign nucleic acids and that have introduced mutations of a few bases are subject to voluntary notification and information provision. The GABA increased tomato produced by genome editing technology has been judged not to be a Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) based on this rule after consultation with the appropriate authorities. |
Do you label the products as developed with genome-editing technology?
